Travel Disruptions Due to Heavy Rain

On Monday, continuous rainfall in Delhi and nearby regions significantly impacted travel conditions. Major airlines, including IndiGo, Air India, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet, have released travel advisories for passengers in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Gurugram.

As reported by a local news source, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Delhi, Faridabad, Noida, and Gurugram, effective until 5:45 PM on Monday. Additionally, the IMD has extended the orange alert for Gurugram and Faridabad for Tuesday, September 2, 2025, while no new alerts were issued for Delhi.

IndiGo's Advisory

IndiGo, the largest airline in India, raised concerns regarding the deteriorating road conditions in Delhi caused by waterlogging and reduced visibility. They advised travelers to leave for the airport earlier than usual and to verify their flight status.

IndiGo shared on social media, "Heavy rainfall continues across Delhi, and road conditions remain slow in several parts of the city. Waterlogging and low visibility are being reported on some routes to the airport."

The airline assured passengers that their teams are monitoring the situation closely and are available to assist throughout the journey.

Air India's Advisory

Air India echoed similar sentiments, cautioning passengers that weather conditions might disrupt flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport.

They posted on social media, "Rain may impact flight operations to and from Delhi today," urging travelers to confirm their flight schedules.

Akasa Air's Advisory

Akasa Air expanded its advisory to include other cities, indicating that heavy rainfall could lead to traffic congestion and delays not only in Delhi but also in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

They stated, "Due to heavy rainfall in certain parts of Delhi, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad, we anticipate slow-moving traffic and congestion on roads leading to the airport." Passengers were encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and were apologized to for any inconvenience.

Akasa further advised, "To ensure a seamless travel experience, we request you to plan for additional travel time to reach the airport well in time for your flight."

Conclusion

Given the waterlogging and slow traffic conditions on Monday, these advisories served as crucial warnings for travelers: while the skies may clear, the roads may still pose challenges.
